Local Activities:
Amphitrite Point The waves seen here are products of a 1999 winter storm. This point is a magical spot to watch the big waves, shipping, or whales. The Wild Pacific Trail winds along the rugged coast from a position just out of this picture and offers views unparalleled anywhere in the world. The trail is located approximately 1 Km (5/8 Mile) from the Inn.
Back Road Adventures We call him Gentle Ben, of RAIN COAST ADVENTURES. This big man from the by-gone logging industry who takes you by off-road vehicle to places far up the old logging roads. Places with scenery so incredible you won't want to leave - places filled with the creatures of the mountains and the forest - places you would never see on your own. And the picnic lunch ... you won't believe that either.
Bear Watching Imagine being so close you can listen to the breathing of a Black Bear while he turns over large boulders in search of his favourite snack ,,,, the shore crab. PRISTINE ADVENTURES is in the business of providing adventurers a "close encounter of the Black Bear Kind". By land or Voyageur canoe it's an adrenaline pumping camera clicking great day.
Kayaking Ucluelet has been a paddler's paradise as far back as when the Nootka Indians travelled these waters in great ocean going cedar canoes. The small islands comprising the Broken Islands Group have beaches, lagoons, a large resident bald eagle community and many hidden channels virtually free of currents. MAJESTIC KAYAKING can place you in this inspiring location whether you are experienced or a beginner.

Local Trails There are some beautiful coastal trails within walking distance of the Inn. They are well maintained and not particularly difficult. With a little discretion secluded beaches can be "discovered" tucked among the rocky coastline. Great places for a private picnic.
As a courtesy the Inn will provide detailed trail maps.

Pacific Rim National Park The ever popular Long Beach is a pleasant 20 minute drive from the Inn. This whole area has wonderful nature walks and sandy beaches that stretch for miles. Contact the park for further details.
Restaurants One of the highlights of Ucluelet is the choice of excellent restaurants. These are small establishments where owner chef's personal pride is evident. Guests are never at a loss for local flavour, wide selections, or friendly surroundings. The Inn recommends:
THE MATTERSON TEA HOUSE, a small yellow cottage offering meals so special visitors frequently choose to dine there every evening they are in Ucluelet.
BLUEBERRIES has a wonderful imaginative menu with many local dishes.
WICKANINNISH RESTAURANT on Long Beach offers spectacular sunsets while you dine on fine local cuisine.
THE RUSTY ANCHOR is an excellent choice for those who enjoy fresh crab.
Sea Plane Tours They call him "Louie the Fly Guy" an affectionate name for a highly skilled long time wilderness pilot and his beloved seaplane. Try watching whales from above, getting a close up view of this wonderful coastline, or setting down at the Hot Springs when the crowds are gone. This is classic West Coast enjoyment from WEST COAST WILD ADVENTURES.
Sport Fishing Forget for a moment all the other reasons for visiting Ucluelet, forget even the star studded summer evenings on your private terrace listening to eagles chatter and surf pounding the coast. Consider only the fishing. No other place on the B.C. coast can match Ucluelet in terms of consistent season-long action. And that's no idle boast.
There are numerous qualified guides and charter companies ranging from under $100.00. For salmon or halibut we recommend LONG BEACH CHARTERS. Be it Long Beach Charters or any of the other capable operators you will be well cared for and arrangements are available for returning your catch to your home freezer.

Whale Watching Each spring between the first of March through late April some 20,000 Grey Whales migrate north to summer feeding grounds. Many pass close enough to shore to be easily watched right from your room at the Inn.
We have a powerful telescope so powerful they can find the barnacles on the whale's back. Charter companies can take you to the whales for a closer encounter. These operators are expert and even out of season can generally find a few whales who make our waters their summer home.
Orca Whale Song We are pleased to assist our guests in making charter arrangements with the most successful operators. We recommend: AQUA MARINE ADVENTURES.
